22nd-Oct-2009 07:41 pm - not-quite-useless stuff
birds
oh yes there was something else:
i mentioned before but don't quite recall the outcome. i have lots of redundant paper at work, large sheets of white plain bond, printed on one side. the ink isn't water-resistant, nor is the paper great for drawing on in ink, it's quite loose and absorbent (plotter paper) and is about 90gsm (at a guess). this is the normal state of things, some of this stuff looking a bit dog-eared and dusty, or folded in boxes. Some of the folded stuff is from the copiers, so potentially better for drawing on. Anyway, right now i have about 10 pristine (apart from the printing) A1 sheets on my desk. Anyone want them before they go under the desk to join the dusty ones?

also, someone commented the other day that with the popular demise of film photography people no longer have easy access to film cases, those marvellous multi-purpose waterproof little boxes. I, as you may have guessed, have lots. If anyone would like some just let me know.
I currently have several in my bag and by my bed, holding iron tablets, pencil sharpeners, moisturiser, a piece of solid deodorant, paper punch tips, needle and thread, scalpel blades, broken bracelet...

15th-Jan-2009 07:49 pm - A CHANGE IS AS GOOD AS A REST
night eye
right??

since the new pad has fallen through, and an immediate fallback is unlikely, i'm keeping an eye out for new options, but in the meantime i'm switching things up around here (not right here, still being in the office). may as well since most of my mountain of detritus is in boxes and i can actually see bits of floor and skirting i haven't seen in a long while... gonna be tidying, sorting, binning and generally reshuffling. FEELS GOOD.

and then i really do want to have a party or something, or have people over or whatever.

LET'S CELEBRATE.

hey has anyone seen the Tillmans video of some panpipe-ish group busking "Wind of Change" outside some big shiny corporate office with the giant logo spinning slowly around? could be in germany. got that in my head right now. hmm... not as good as the boiling peas soundtracked by shouty religious sermon, but somehow more memorable...

further to that - stuff for the cull )
24th-Sep-2008 12:49 pm - some fun things
night eye
cute crochet - http://planetjune.com/

free southbank musical stuff - Billy Bragg's Big Busk on saturday (it could be horrendous but i'm still a little curious)
and the The Taoist Music Orchestra of the Shanghai City of God Temple on friday, lunchtime
2nd-Sep-2008 11:41 am - exccss paper
night eye

an ongoing by/waste-product of my job is waste paper. at the moment it seems like more than usual, as a result of external printers' mistakes and the usual checking and re-checking prior to final issue.
i'm always loathe to bin/recycle it all since it is Nice Big Bits of paper. so - does anyone have use for these? all plain white paper, all printed on one side, some folded, some unfolded, A1 size.
potential uses - dressmaking patterns or similiar. rough note books if you can be bothered to cut them up. for making a mess on (not water-resistant though). not too bad for large-scale papier mache. weight is around 80gsm, but varies (the printers' stuff is thinner than ours).
if you want any of it let me know, otherwise it'll gather dust under my desk getting kicked until the moths get to it and i throw it out...

11th-Sep-2007 12:01 pm - some free stuff

i'm moving house at the weekend.
there are some things that i don't need and would like to see made use of by Someone, if Someone is reading. all free to collect (would need to be collected by 30th Sept). lack of digital camera at the mo - if you want pics, tell me and i'll sort it.
